You are the most productive D-man in the league. How does it make you feel on ice?

I feel great. We have a great group of guys on the team who have made me feel welcomed and needed out there. I´ve always been a guy who had the ability to be productive and help out the team offensively. However, for me to do it at this current rate, I have genuinely surprised myself with what i have done so far.

Zvolen had a very tough schedule, four games in five days. Have you experienced anything similar?

Ya, For the most part in the last few years in the ECHL, our schedule had been pretty similar with playing lots of 3 games in 3 nights or 4 games in 5 nights. It doesn’t get any easier no matter where you play and at what level, but i think a lot of credit needs to go to our coaches based on how they manage our practice times and energy levels when it comes to that many games in so little time

So far Zvolen is leading the table. Can we say that you have had fun playing hockey here?

Yes, I have a lot of fun playing. I enjoy going to the rink everyday and having the ability to play a game I love and to be around my teammates. I feel very privileged to be able to do what I do and try not to take any of it for granted

Zvolen had a very good winning streak, eleven games in a row. Is it not a pity that you then lost at home?

Ya we were playing really well and it definitely wasn’t a good feeling when we lost. I think every player wants to win every game but at the same time you have to realize that sometimes other teams have good games and may beat you. Developing the winning mindset is what every team strives for and with us losing only means we now can start another long winning streak

Do you think that your team can win the title this season?

I think we can. We have a great well balanced group of players and i think we have the desire to win. I know i wasn’t around last year but the vibe I get is that the manner in which the last season ended left a bad taste in the players´ mouths and has made them hungrier to come back and win this year.

What is your plan during International break?

I went on a little trip to Italy with my girlfriend, it was nice to get away and refocus and get ready for the rest of the season. Towards the end though, I was definitely ready to get back and get in a routine.

What do you think about Zvolen as a city?

I really like it, it´s a small place that has everything I need. I´ve really started to enjoy the different kinds of food that I’m not used to having back in Canada

What do you think about coaches Andrej Podkonický and Raimo Summanen?

I think they’re great, Andrej knows the game so well with having played it at a high level and understands how to treat his players properly to get the most out of them. Raimo is also a great coach, he brings an intense work ethic to the rink everyday which complements with Andrej perfectly

What had you known about Slovakian league before you arrived?

I didn’t know a whole lot, I had asked around a lot of guys on what they had heard or know of any guys that have played here. But I do know that since coming and playing in the league it has exceeded the expectations

Do you know anybody from the North American players who play in Slovakia?

Ya, I know of a couple of guys. It seems the hockey world is pretty small with regard to if you’re Canadian or American and play hockey here, at some point our paths have crossed to either playing with someone or against them. But I played university hockey with Ryan Harrison (DVTK) so I know him fairly well

You are going to play the Winter Classic in February. What do you think about it?

I´m very excited, I had the ability to play in an outdoor game when I was 18 years old in the WHL for Spokane Chiefs. so being able to do that again is awesome and especially against a rival team of Banská makes it even better.
